CONCEPT
Every sip carries a story Japan has forgotten to tell.
By design, VOID offers only three pours—a rice whisky from the Yasato Distillery, and two teas born of a twenty-year cultivar and a rare heritage varietal, each cut by hand into Kaito’s kiriko glass, over natural ice from Nikko. Non-drinkers experience the same story, glass for glass.
In the world of traditional craftsmanship, anyone can acquire the work of a celebrated master. Far rarer is the opportunity to witness an artist’s story as it unfolds. Kaito Nabetani is in the midst of transforming the techniques inherited from his father into an expression uniquely his own. To be present during that extraordinary journey of inheritance and creation is an experience few will ever have.
Edo Kiriko was born when 19th-century Western cut-glass techniques encountered traditional Japanese motifs—evolving from folk craft to fine art and now toward contemporary art. Every pour at VOID—green tea, Japanese black tea and rice whisky— carries the same century-old dialogue between East and West.
